In my new quest for better health, I purchased the Ninja Mega Kitchen System. My plan is to detox with 60 days of smoothies and then eat healthy solid meals once or twice per day. Anyone who owns a Ninja blending system would benefit from this book and its 209 pages are broken down into eleven color-coded sections;Chapter 1 - juice blends and smoothiesRecipes include; breakfast veggie blend, garden in a glass, sparkling lemonade with fresh basil, apple and ginger tea, fresh pear & mango nectar, pineapple banana swirl, veggie iron power punch, raisin-topped carrot smoothie, strawberry smoothie, banana pineapple smoothie, triple berry twist, summer sweet peach smoothie, hot cranberry soother, tangerine tango, hot chai tea and orange Russian tea. This section was a bit of a letdown in the grand scheme of smoothie-making. Perhaps it's because I have other more in-depth smoothie recipe books. The "smoothies" in this book are more deserts than health drinks. I did try making a "breakfast veggie blend" and wound up adding my own "superfood" ingredients like maca root powder, spirulina and flaxseeds. The "fresh pear & mango" blend was a bit simplistic and I added mint leaves, spirulina and goji berries. Both of my variations were wonderful.Chapter 2 - frozen drink specialtiesRecipes include; mocha freeze, blast o' berry's shake, Caramello cream parfaits, frosty orange cream, soy latte freeze, dark chocolate frappe, iced tropical rainbow, pineapple and mango frosty chocolate mint chip milkshake, black cherry freeze, candy bar crunch, Rocky Road shake, pure vanilla malt and espresso ice cream freeze.Chapter 3 - cocktails and party drinksRecipes include; frozen blue bayou, the perfect blended Margarita, fresh coconut piña colada, frozen white sangria, strawberry daiquiri, seabreeze soother, pineapple mango lotito, lemon meringue, frozen Cuban melito, milk chocolate mudslide, Italian bellini, frozen lemon drop, Jamaican screwdriver, crushed peppermint snowfall martini and South Pacific slush.Chapter 4 - appetizers, dips and spreadsRecipes include; Warm dijon chicken spread, olive tamponade bruschetta, cream cheese fruit dip with strawberries, hot artichoke dip with sourdough rounds, mini crab cakes with dill sauce, blue cheese sliders, white bean and sage spread, grilled shrimp with fresh peach salsa, pita chips with tangy tahini spread and roasted tomato and olive bruschetta.Chapter 5 - soups bisque and saucesRecipes include; gazpacho, creamy avocado soup, summer strawberry mint soup, chicken tortilla soup, classic lobster bisque, cream of broccoli soup, potato and corn chowder, fresh tomato basil soup, winter vegetable bean soup, vichyssoise, classic hollandaise sauce, basil pesto, homemade pizza sauce, South American chimichurri sauce, simple red raspberry sauce and peanut dipping sauce.Chapter 6 - breads and bakery goodsRecipes include; easy pizza dough, buttermilk bread, whole-grain cowboy bread, Parmesan and dill biscuits, Italian breadstick twists, apricot and date muffins, overnight dinner rolls, banana nut bread, pecan cinnamon rolls, double lemon glazed cake, cinnamon and nutmeg spice doughnuts, fresh blueberry lemon scones, blueberry muffins, chocolate chunk muffins and cranberry orange and walnut bread.Chapter 7 - entrées, salads and sidesRecipes include; sausage and roasted vegetable penne pasta, New Mexican red chili cheese enchiladas, chicken fettuccine alfredo, baked tomatilllo chicken, pork chops with provence prune sauce, Italian stuffed pork tenderloin, mini crab ramekins, smoked paprika chicken pasta in sweet red pepper sauce, spaghetti marinara, apricot & date muffins, creamed scalloped potatoes, Middle Eastern tabouli, balsamic and strawberry vinaigrette, Tangy Summer fruit salad and apple cranberry and gorgonzola salad.Chapter 8 - marinades, rubs and mopping saucesRecipes include; teriyaki grilling marinade, smoking chipotle sauce, lemon and herb marinade, orange papaya shrimp marinade, Kansas City barbecue sauce, sweet paprika rub, Greek herb rub, chili pepper hot sauce, cowboy mopping sauce, balsamic grilling sauce, fresh fig sauce and cranberry and orange relish.Chapter 9 - desserts and sweet treatsRecipes include; easy New York cheesecake, Rocky Road fudge pie, chocolate chip mint ice cream, peaches and cream ice cream, vanilla bean ice cream, frozen chocolate fudge yogurt, lemon mint granita, watermelon granita, crisp and rich butter cookies, caramello meal bars, English toffee cookies, soft molasses drops, lemon coconut walnut bars, applesauce cake with buttercream frosting, pineapple nut crumb cake and key lime pie.Chapter 10 - condiments and spice blendsRecipes include; lemon & garlic aïoli, rich and creamy mayonnaise, crunchy Thai peanut spread, herbs to province mix, Asian genders by the blend, Italian seasoning mix, fresh hot dog and hamburger relish, smoked ham and onion spread, roasted garlic butter, sweet orange butter and creamy horseradish spread.I made the "crunchy Thai peanut spread" for chicken skewers that I made for my wife and her daughter - and they loved it.Chapter 11 - baby and toddler treatsBaked crispy mozzarella sticks, healthy mac & cheese, banana rice pudding, smooth baked apple, parsnips potato in pairs, perfectly peachy chicken, maple cinnamon peaches and plums, cheese and avocado quesadillas, green beans with roasted red bell pepper dip and golden mashed potato puffs.About the only section missing is "dog and cat treats." I might just start making my own with recipes found on the internet.FINAL WORDS:I like the fact that each chapter is broken down into color categorized sections yet the recipes are devoid of any nutritional info. It might have been nice to include some of that type of info for those on more restrictive diets.I plan to use the solid food recipes once I have completed my 60 day liquid only diet. I suppose anybody with a food processor could utilize the information and recipes in this book, but it's really laid out for use with a Ninja system. I strongly feel that the more powerful the motor in your machine, the better the end results will be. Oddly enough, I didn't see this book offered on the Ninja website. I purchased my "previously owned" copy through Amazon.com and I think it was well worth the money. It's a 3.75-star book for those with a higher speed Ninja machine while it might be closer to a 3-star book for those with other blenders. My advice is pick one up in the "previously-owned" section on Amazon.com.HEALTH IS WEALTH!NOTE: I wrote this review on Epinions.com as well.I purchased the Ninja, instead of the nutribullet product. I wanted a book that would complement the Mega blender, which includes the food processor. I've never processed food before, only mixed, and wanted to gain all the benefits of the product as I could. The package came with a small booklet, but not a lot of innovative ways to use the processor. With that said the recipes included are flirty and fun. I was looking more for seriously healthy offerings. Its a nice inclusion to my recipe book library. IF you are looking for a more health-related book for your nutritent extracting, purchase the "NutriBullet Natural Healing Foods: Supercharge your health in just seconds a day", its more pricey, but I feel it is worth it. You can also read my review on that book. I hate recommending other products on someone else's review...but I want to honestly help anyone I can.It is a good basic book for use with the regular Ninja blender. I have the Ninja Foodi blender that cooks. I was hoping it would have recipes for that, but it does not. I can still use the cookbook, but I now search for one for my appliance. Some great ideas for meals that are tasty but in keeping with my diet restrictions. There’s something for everyone! Its a good book. The seller was exact and the book was in excellent condition. No nutritional information for any recipe in this book. Someone dropped the ball here. I use that information to keep my weight in line. So I would have to figure each recipe out by adding the nutritional info for each food item added. Too much work this book will probably sit on my shelf verses getting used as much as I thought. If you need that info I would say skip this book. If you don't care about calories or fat and you just want to eat whatever then this book and its recipes are for you. ENJOY it:)It was easy to use. I had no problem getting the blender to do what I wanted it to do.I have recently purchased a Ninja 770 system and was very excited to be on a path to a healthy lifestyle. This book provides many simple recipes for a starter, but it does not have pictures for each recipe. I found it to be discouraging for someone who is starting to cook with a food processor.I had an older Ninja blender and was happy with it. But then got the new one and it is amazing. This cookbook has helped me with the transition in cooking from some old established routines to taking advantage of all this new machine offers. Great recipes!!! Recommend highly.
